While some performers reportedly chose not to participate in the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations, country music legend Lee Greenwood remained committed to the event, saying he was honored to celebrate the country alongside President Donald Trump.

“I’m just very proud to stand next to the man that I appreciate that runs our country,” Greenwood said, expressing his admiration for the president.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind his iconic patriotic anthem, Greenwood said his travels across America led him to write God Bless the USA, a song that has become synonymous with national pride. As the nation commemorates its 250th anniversary, he described it as a privilege to perform during the historic celebration.

Greenwood also dismissed claims that the anniversary events should be viewed through a political lens.
