A modern uptake on a timeless silhouette
The Princess of Wales is no stranger to a sleek ensemble, and stepped out in a navy blazer and suit trousers this week. The Princess was attending an important meeting in London and added a white t-shirt under her smart suit, rather than a traditional collared shirt. The addition gave the look more of a modern feel, while the almost ‘seamless’ fit of the t-shirt put a fresh twist on the classic white tee.
Kate was in London to meet Melinda Gates about a potential shared project, and Kate looked as stylish as ever for their meeting. The royal chose a t-shirt in a smooth,
fitted fabric with a little stretch, which made the seams almost invisible. The choice made Kate’s look feel extra sleek and is an up-to-date alternative to a cotton, ribbed or textured tee.
If you’re looking to upgrade your basics and channel some of Kate’s style, then the good news is that you can find a double of her ‘seamless’ style t-shirt for £10 at M&S:
You can even find one for just £4 at George at Asda – although some sizes are beginning to sell out:
H&M also have a smooth microfibre option for £12.99:
The Princess of Wales was meeting with Melinda Gates as part of her work with the Royal Foundation Centre of Early Childhood, which she spearheads. The centre researches early years education and development, while Melinda Gates’ organisation Pivotal aims to accelerate social progress for women and young people. The pair met to explore potential collaboration.
According Christian Guy, Executive Director of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Kate and Melinda took part in a working session to consider, ‘what more could be done to strengthen young people’s wellbeing, belonging and ability to thrive throughout life.’
Continuing his message on LinkedIn, Christian explained that, ‘what gave the session particular energy was a shared belief that while today’s children face considerable challenges, they also carry extraordinary potential. With supportive relationships, a sense of belonging and opportunities to discover who they are and what they might contribute, every young person can build the confidence, resilience and sense of purpose they need for the future.’
