Major Shake-Up in the West: OKC Sends Lu Dort Packing While 2024 No. 1 Pick Zaccharie Risacher Heads to Dallas Mavericks for Fresh Start
In a stunning move that sent shockwaves through the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder have traded their All-Defensive wing Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team blockbuster.
The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, sees OKC parting ways with one of their most reliable perimeter defenders after years of anchoring their elite defense, while acquiring three second-round picks to bolster their future asset pool. At the heart of the transaction, 2024 No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher is heading to the Dallas Mavericks, marking a fresh start for the young wing after just two seasons with the Hawks. Risacher joins a Mavericks squad already featuring 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, creating an intriguing young core in Dallas. Ryan Nembhard is also on the move to Atlanta in the multi-team swap. This trade signals a strategic shift for the Thunder, who appear to be prioritizing long-term flexibility and draft capital following their recent contention window. For the Hawks, landing Dort adds immediate defensive toughness, while the Mavericks continue their aggressive roster reshaping to compete in a loaded Western Conference.
Fans are already buzzing about how these changes will reshape playoff races next season.
