Prince William Reveals Why Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce’s 2024 Photo With Royal Family Almost Didn’t Happen

Prince William revealed the hilarious reason Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 2024 photo with the royal family—which they used to hard-launch their romance—nearly didn’t happen.

Prince William once had a bone to pick with Taylor Swift’s lover Travis Kelce.

After all, the Prince of Wales revealed the iconic 2024 photo where he and his kids Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11, posed alongside the Grammy winner and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end almost had a different fate.

“I was trying to move him out of the photo!” William admitted of Travis during the Oct. 23 episode of The Graham Norton Show. “Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn’t work out why he kept coming back in! I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children!”

William—who also shares son Prince Louis, 8, with Kate Middleton—had taken George and Charlotte to the first night of the “Lover” singer’s eight-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium that June. And after the foursome posed for the selfie, Taylor proved she was ready for it when it came to the next step in her and Travis’ relationship.

Indeed, she used the pic to go Instagram official with her guy on the Chiefs. And while William wished he could have booked the NFL star a getaway car at the time, it’s only because he didn’t realize he was witnessing a pivotal moment in the pair’s love story.

“I wasn’t until recently,” he explained. “I hadn’t appreciated the significance.”

Though William couldn’t have known he was part of something bigger than the whole sky in the moment, it didn’t take long before Travis became king of his heart. In fact, the 44-year-old dropped everything to make a surprise appearance on Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast last July.

“Our guest today is the 6’3’’ prince from London, England,” Jason announced in a promotional video shared for the podcast July 3. “That’s right, the president of the English Football Association, the vice royal patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, The Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Cornwall, the Lord of the Isles, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, Earl of Chester and the Prince of Wales.”

As Travis—who tied the knot with Taylor at Madison Square Garden July 3—laughed along with his brother’s killer introduction, Jason continued, “Please welcome his Royal Highness, Prince William.”

And William was absolutely enchanted over the welcome.

“That is quite an intro, guys,” he joked. “Amazing.”

But that’s just because Jason respects William’s big reputation. As he put it, “We had to do it big for you—had to do it big.”
