With two Chiefs receivers going down during Sunday’s game, Tyreek Hill fueled speculation with a message on social media.
Tyquan Thornton was having a game to remember when he went down with a gruesome injury Sunday in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs
30-27 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. With five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns, Thornton looked to be stepping into the role of a No. 1 receiver for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
That was key because earlier in the game, receiver Rashee Rice suffered a hamstring injury and didn’t return to action after the first quarter.
Unfortunately for Thornton, he suffered what appeared to be a bad ankle injury late in the fourth quarter, and his status now seems to be in doubt.
The two injuries, to Rice and Thornton, left the Chiefs with just four healthy wide receivers by game’s end: Jalen Royals (Shop Royals Fan Gear), Cyrus Allen, Nikko Remigio and Xavier Worthy.
For months, there has been rampant speculation about a possible reunion between Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs — much of it fueled by posts Hill has made on social media.
While playing for the Dolphins last year, Hill dislocated his knee and tore his ACL and other ligaments during a Sept. 29 game against the Jets.
Hill, who was picked by the Chiefs in the fifth round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, had 6,630 receiving yards and 56 touchdowns in Kansas City over six seasons before he was traded to the Dolphins.
Miami parted ways with Hill after last season and he’s currently a free agent. Conjecture about Hill, 32, only increased Sunday night when he apparently saw Thornton’s injury and wrote on X: “hm.” With just two letters, Hill created quite a stir among fans.
“Come back Cheetah! HM = Hill Mahomes,” one fan wrote as he included a clip of Patrick Mahomes and Hill.
Another wrote: “Come home we actually need you king” “less talking more signing buddy it’s grim out here,” a fan wrote.
A fan asked: “You coming back right??” One person had a different interpretation for the message: “hm = Hill Missouri. Veech (GM Brett Veach) gonna have you back in KC before the team.
Let’s go!” There was this request: “Come on back Cheetah! ❤️💛
